The village of Haughty was a glowing city of perfection. Everybody and everything had a precise look of beauty. Whenever there was an image or individual that was not quite right, they would cry, “Fix it.”

Disabled people were welcome here but they were told to be discrete. “Don’t ask, don’t tell” was the law in Haughty. Since most disabled people wanted to be “normal,” they didn’t protest this policy.
