Gay People and Cats

Posted by Theresa McMillan on Thursday, May 11, 2023,

Assumptions! What makes people want to assume the worst about people they never met? People even do this about animals. It is very upsetting! I think what is the most heartbreaking is stigmatizing people and animals that only want our love and acceptance. The LGBTQ community and cats are the two that share this common problem. How can our society learn to love? How can they change their thinking and embrace differences? I like to share my journey of loving the gay community and cats.

"Pen in Hand: or What would John Lennon Say Today"

Posted by Theresa McMillan on Wednesday, October 9, 2013,
What would John Lennon say today?
He would still say, "Give Peace a chance."
Let's end this ridiculous political dance.
With pen in hand,
He would say, "All you need is love."
Why is it so hard for you?
Just look at what the world's going through:
War is not the answer to look to.
Come on, let's have the new revolution
With the idea of love as the solution.
With pen in hand,
John would say, "Why can't you understand?"
Yes, we are all from the different countries,
But inside we are all the same.
So let's st...

“Haven't Overcome, but Feeling Overjoyed.”

Posted by Theresa McMillan on Thursday, August 15, 2013,

I'm so overcome by the word overcome. The word is overused and very misleading. When I hear the word overcome, I think of someone who recovered from a sickness or an accident. They do not have to deal with whatever what made them temporary confined. It is not a condition that will stay with them for life and they will go on like nothing ever happened.

I’m sorry to have to say this, but I haven’t overcome my disability.  I was born with it, and it will be with me for life.  I...

"A Poem About Shirley Temple Posing for a Picture "

Posted by Theresa McMillan on Sunday, August 4, 2013,
Curly head

She sits in an Indian Costume holding a fan

Looks like she's being patient

She's a good girl, very smart

Obedient and kind

A girl everyone would smile at

Peach and Pink

Are what her colors are

Her eyes bright blue

With all her charm sparkle in them

She's ready for her cue

Then she will dance and sing

People will be singing right along

No matter how depressing their life might be

Her presence is welcome

She's the American Girl everyone treasures!

"Cats That Like to Eat Rats"

Posted by Theresa McMillan on Monday, July 8, 2013,

If I should write a fable, it would be something like this: There lived a littlest kitten. All the other kittens didn’t care about him. They thought he would never amount to much since he was so small. “You’re never big like us,” they taunted him. He was hurt that they said things like that and left him out of the group. But he always remained kind to them.

The kittens loved chasing the rats around the house. It was fun and for exercise. “It’s s so much fun to chase our food! We...

Princess to the World: In Memory of Princess Diana

Posted by Theresa McMillan on Saturday, June 29, 2013,
She was born in 1961
With blond hair and blue eyes
She was like a little angel
That fell from the sky
She loved sports and animals as a little girl
She thought they were the best things in the world
When she grew up, her heart was with children
She became a teacher just to care for them
She became a princess in 1981
She was so lovely and beautiful to everyone
Shen then had two handsome boys
That brought her lots of joy
She had a big heart for people who were different
She wanted to make a difference
She ca...

"My Simple Mother"

Posted by Theresa McMillan on Saturday, May 11, 2013,

Simplicity is a word that defined my mother’s life. She always wanted things simple like: directions, information, and appliances. Her desire was to always have a few complications as possible.

One of the reasons that my mother preferred the basic of everything was that it made life easier for her. She did not attend school beyond junior high level and often struggled with reading and learning complicated tasks. She finally learned to tell time when I was young. But her tenacity on keepi...
