Many people have different definitions of friendship, but I have a very narrow view on the subject. Some people call someone they just met his or her friend. Others say their friends are people they very rarely see. I think the word friendship is a word is a word that is used too often. Friendship is something that is very special. It takes time to build up a relationship with someone. It involves give and take and understanding of each other. From my own experience, I have tried to develop friendships too quickly. This has caused me emotional pain, because either the other person was not interested in being friends, or they thought I wanted things. As a result, I would get very upset and get very depressed. Now I have learned that friendships develop over time. I even get nervous when I feel people are too friendly when I first meet them. Friendship is a word that I use very carefully.
