"I’m Pretty in My Own Way”

Theresa McMillan

I’m pretty in my own way

That’s what I want to persuade!

I know I have eccentric behavior

Please look on it in good favor

It may take me time

To understand the world’s rhyme

I may live in a slower pace

And don’t rush in such haste

I’m pretty in my own way

Don’t want to live in false in society

And lose all my identity

Please cherish my unique outlook on life

My views may seem simple and small

But all I care about is tearing down walls

So what if I look and act like I’m from another planet?

Don‘t you understand I have a soul, “Damn it!”

I can be incredibly sunny

And awfully funny

I’m also a deep thinker about life

And sad about how people can create so much strife

Why people are so afraid of a kind touch?

It is what the world needs of so much

I’m pretty in my own way

Maybe people will notice someday

They just have to look differently in their heart

That’s when all the misconceptions will fall apart!
